You must use this company if you want to have the most memorable experience during your time in La Rioja. I knew I wanted to visit La Rioja while in Spain but had no idea where to start. I found the company “Rioja Like a Native” online and after reading all the wonderful reviews, I proceeded to contacting Rebeca. After contacting her, I knew this would be an unforgettable experience. Rebeca took the time to prepare an itinerary and planned all the wineries we were to visit. She even facilitated the transportation since I was staying in San Sebastián and had to travel to La Rioja.
We visited three bodegas, I was able to experience ‘Fiesta del Pisado de las Uvas’ (grape-stomping festival or also known as pigeage). This method was used in traditional wine-making and this festival takes place once a year. I was able to discover the 16th century wine caves. Thanks to Rebeca, I was able to experience such an incredible tradition. I wouldn’t have known of this event if i had not contacted this company. Rebecca run a first-class “VIP” tour experience. Starting with on-time pickup at hotel, soon found ourselves at beautiful family winery with amazing views. This was great, because grapevines were on land adjacent to winery. So, perfect way to follow process from ground, harvest, mash, ferment, etc. Tastings started from barrels and led to home areas. Next, visit to medieval times, learning much about pre-industrial wine making, with great photo opportunities in ancient caves and pits. After working up appetite, easy drive and walk into La Guardia, where fantastic lunch was provided, and tour group had chance to visit and relax. Capped off afternoon with visit to modern winery, which was surprisingly very interesting, mostly since we could contrast with previous, smaller and simpler facilities. With so many tastings across assembled group of strangers, Rebecca was especially professional, as she was able to get us from one place to the other effortlessly. Although seemingly effortless, I recognize how well prepared and able she is in getting people through a full day of wine tastings. Arrived back at hotel feeling amazing and happy. Being in Logrono, we were able to step back on the streets and continue the fun. Rebecca was excellent host, very knowledgeable, highly professional, super kind, and a “barrel” of fun! My husband and I traveled with another couple to Spain for 8 full days. We visited Barcelona, La Rioja and Spanish Basque Country. Our day with Rebeca and Rioja Like a Native was my favorite day of the entire trip!
Rebeca is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and fun! She told us of the history of the region and of the bodegas we visited.
When Rebeca found out one if people we were with was an architect she drove us to two other bodegas, famous for their architecture, so that we could see them!
The bodegas were very different from each other which was great to give us different experiences. It was evident she had great relationships with all of them.
On the drive back, Rebeca told us about a festival happening in town while we were there, suggested several delicious pintxo bars and even texted her friend for the name of a yoga studio for me!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience with the “Like a Native” winery tour with Rebeca. Rebeca took us to a good mix of Medieval, 19th Century and Modern wineries. It was very interesting to see the differences in the wine making processes between the three wineries and lunch was a highlight. We enjoyed good conversation with Rebeca over a delicious lunch of local food and a informative walking tour of the medieval city La Guardia. We received a solid education about the Rioja region and wine making processes that we will use to continue to our Spanish wine education. The photos that Rebeca took of my wife and me were a nice touch and something we will use to remember our pleasant experience for years to come. Rebecca made organising this trip a breeze. The knowledge of Rebeca was incredible and enabled our group of 3 to learn not only about Rioja wine but also about the history of the region and the local food and culture. We had an incredible pintxo lunch in an historic village and visited three vineyards who all approached the wine making process in a different way and encouraged us to taste our way through their wines to appreciate the impact these choices had on their final product. 2/3 of those we visited were boutique producers you would never find otherwise-this tour really was “Rioja like a native”.
